First Combat
Dec 21, 1944 landed Morotai to January 22. 1945 concluded action on Morati.
Sailed to Phillippines arrived Liangayen Gulf February 10 on February 15
committed to action relieved 192 Field artillery of 33rd Div. On June 30, 1945
relieved from combat in Luzon campaign and moved to rest camp in Naguilian. On
Sept 12 1945 moved to Wakayama Japan on the 25 of Sept.
Vivid Memory
Assigned to 33rh Div. to supply 155mm artilliary support. Reported to Col.
Brown. Immediately to intro Japanese artillery fire initiated. First round
prompted us to dive into fox holes. Second round landed in communications center
killing Col Brown & 2 non com officers. I was about 3 yds removed concussion,
fractured ear drum & hearing loss.

can't recall anything funny
Worst Memory
Had suicide Kamakazi come in while we were on point. Came in behind us and
blew up artillery tractor. 3 others surrounded our fox hole ultimately blew up &
flesh all around us. Spent night locked in foxhole unaware of what additional
Japanese troops were in adjacent valley.& what was going on around us.
Final Comments
Would like to find info on Col Brown who was killed April/May period 1945 at
above battle. Would like info also on any survivors of that time and division
